This position supports that mission by providing safe, wholesome and innovative food and customer service to our patients, customers (retail and Catering) as well as hospital employees in a variety of settings . Wesley Medical Center obstetricians and childbirth staff deliver more than 6,000 babies each year, more than any hospital in a 13-state region. Wesley Medical Center is a Level 1 trauma center and the only Level 2 pediatric trauma center in Kansas with expansion construction planned for 2019. Wesley Medical Center recently opened a new dedicated Ortho and Spine unit as well as a new Neuro unit.

Wesley Medical Center utilizes Expressly For You Patient Dining program and recently implemented the Health Touch 5.1 Patient Meal Management program. A new Patient Dining Menu is in development for deployment in 2019. Wesley Medical Center provides meal services for 2 retail outlets and a large Doctors' Dining outlet. Food offerings in the main cafeteria are available 21 hours a day. A new Retail Menu including all outlets and Doctor's Dining will also be in development for implementation in 2019

Reporting to our General Manager, you will lead and support members of the management team and front line hourly staff and will plan, organize support and manage the daily operations in this hospital. Our Operations Manager will be responsible for ensuring the highest level of customer service throughout the department. Responsibilities include:

  • Managing the daily operations in supporting the Retail Manager, Executive Chef and Patient Services Manager

  • Ensuring Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality

  • Working with managers to ensure proper Labor and food cost controls

  • Assist in Menu development and inventory management

  • Ensure Sodexo Retail and Production programs are thoroughly implemented and in compliance

  • Drive Customer Service in Retail and Patient Services areas

  • Drive Safety and Training initiatives

Qualifications for the Operations Manager include prior management experience in a high volume healthcare environment, strong food management and food cost management experience, computer literacy, full HACCP knowledge and ServSafe certification. Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.

Key Duties

  • Establishes a safe work environment

  • Assumes General Manager’s (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence

  • Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships, to ensure account retention

  • Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

  • Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

  • Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

  • Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and regulatory agencies

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree

Basic Management Experience - 3 years

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
