Job Overview:

The Utility Worker is responsible for maintaining kitchen work areas, equipment and utensils. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

/General Responsibilities:/

  • Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine.

  • Washes work tables, walls, refrigerators and meat blocks.

  • Sweeps, mops, cleans and vacuums floors.

  • Removes trash and garbage to designated areas.

  • Transfers supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room.

  • Cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.

  • Polishes silver.

  • May wash pots.

  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.

  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Job Overview:

The Utility 1 Main Kitchen/Pot Sink is responsible for maintaining cleanliness of kitchen work areas, the 3-compartment pot sink room, front of house cafe areas, equipment, dishes and utensils. This position will focus on the main kitchen and pot sink and assist in the main dish room and cafe during peak operational periods as needed. This position is also responsible for assisting with receiving merchandise, unloading or unpacking it, marking it with codes to be identified, stocking shelves and helping place orders when needed. This person will also act as the point person for the utility team and work with management to ensure all utility related tasks are being executed at a high level and delegate as needed. This is a customer facing position - candidates must have a friendly and welcoming personality.

Daily Tasks:

  • Washes dishes by hand or places them in a dishwashing machine as needed.

  • Wash pots, utensils, pans, cups, plates, all dishes and service wear, etc. either in a 3-compartment pot sink or using machine designated for dish sanitation.

  • Washes work tables, walls, refrigerators, doors, hand sinks and culinary equipment as needed based upon business needs.

  • Sweeps, mops and otherwise cleans floors twice daily at 11:30am and 2:30pm and as needed, based upon business needs.

  • Scrubs all floors with deck brush once daily during 2:30pm floor cleaning.

  • Assists Receiver with stocking all products upon delivery from vendors or purveyors.

  • Removes trash and garbage to designated areas hourly or as needed.

  • Transfers supplies and equipment within and between storage and work areas such as pantry and dish room.

  • Cleans equipment using specific chemicals to ensure sanitary standards.

  • Polishes Silver when needed

  • Assists with other stations within the scope of the business operations as needed and as requested by Manager.

  • Returns damaged items or other items to vendors that do not meet Sodexo specifications.

  • Maintain a flexible schedule as business needs dictate, including after hour events when needed.

  • Maintains cleanliness and orderliness of storage areas by sweeping and mopping.

  • Maintains cleanliness throughout kitchen and cafe in both BOH and FOH dining areas.

  • Maintains cleanliness in coordination with facilities

  • Interacts with customers in the serving, retail and dining areas.

  • Manages stock in the storeroom and/or refrigerator/freezer.

  • Move or transport materials or supplies to other departments using hand or industrial trucks.

  • Assemble and deliver equipment such as glassware and china carts.

  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.

  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures.

  • Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees.

  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP/OSHA, and/ or local, state and federal safety and risk management policies and procedures related to all assigned work.

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

  • Key cleaning times – consistently throughout entire shift and 8:30 AM; 10 AM; 1 PM; 3 PM and as requested.
