Unit Description

Sodexo has an exciting opportunity to provide Data Center mission critical Facility Management Services .

The successful candidate will possess the following competencies:

Foster Client Relationships

You will develop and maintain vendor relationships and maintain positive client relationships.

Coordinate Facility Operations

You will create facility capacity plans, manage monthly financial cycle activities, assess and report on power, space, and cooling usage. You will optimize use of Computerized Maintenance Management System and implement necessary system changes, provide infrastructure (Mechanical and Electrical) support to the Critical Operations, and Security teams. You will oversee day-to-day Data Center Operations, oversee the Client Change Control Program Develop/Review Methods and Procedures for all work elements. You will manage the resolution of facility-related technical issues, and coordinate work with other departments as required.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated proficiency for all the responsibilities of a Critical Facilities Engineer

  • Bachelor's Degree in Facilities Management, Construction Management, Engineering or equivalent field of study OR equivalent work experience

  • Current knowledge of facility systems, procedures and processes required

  • Working knowledge of Data Center operations required

  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments required

  • Equivalent Work/Experience/Knowledge: Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, Outlook and Visio required; working knowledge of SharePoint preferred

  • Journey or Master level trade status (Electrical or Mechanical) preferred

  • Trade Certification or state license in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC) preferred

  • Professional affiliations preferred (7x24 Exchange, Uptime Institute, IFMA,) preferred

Team Management

You will establish, communicate and meet performance standards. You will interview, orient and train new facility engineers, and review and document individual performance. You will deliver regular individual performance feedback, and maintain ongoing facility engineer training and certification programs, as well as support individual professional development and career planning, and support the Critical Environments Team.

Maintain Facility Standards

You will implement tactical and long-term strategies, implement business procedures and processes, and manage facility per client agreement(s). You will preserve facility assets, achieve budgeted financial results, establish, communicate and maintain operational standards, and implement utility conservation programs. You will communicate and ensure compliance with facility operating procedures and processes, work rules and regulations, national, state and local safety and operating codes, and regulatory agency requirements.

Position Summary

Back up to GM; 2nd in command;

Supervises the account as the #2 manager and has full responsibility including supervision of other managers. Responsible for entire account when the Director of Facilities Ops is not present.

Two scenarios for this position in Univ.:

A) Has all facilities rolling up – Custodial / maintenance and grounds, and FM who reports to GM; very large integrated operation.

B) Mega account – multiple managers of maintenance; PM function; other specific managers – unifying position.

Key Duties

  • Manage other managers; manage by walking around (rounding); Staffs, trains, and is responsible for employee development

  • client interface;

  • payroll oversight;

  • budgetary oversight on some services;

  • Oversees and coordinates projects

  • Manages work orders/CMMS

  • Manages mechanicals (i.e. HVAC)

  • Manages QA and Safety

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree

Basic Management Experience - 5 years

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in facilities maintenance, plant operations or engineering services
