Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking an experienced Food Operations Manager 2 at Troy University,a state university with 7500 students, located in Troy, AL.

This position will oversee the Resident Dining Operations at the Trojan Dining facility. Trojan Dining is the all you care to dine facility at Troy University, and was one of the first Resident Dining Halls to be modeled on the Sodexo Restaurant Collection brand. Trojan Dining includes a number of platforms including the Flying Star Diner, Bella Tratorria, Wild Mushroom, Magellan's, Simple Servings and a Deli Selection. We are open 7 days per week with continuous service throughout the day. This Operations Manager will also supervise the Faculty & Staff Dining. There are a large number of special events in the dining hall.

Trojan Dining is a key driver to the financial success of the Unit. The ability to finesse a menu and engineer a labor schedule is essential. Other key competencies of an ideal candidate include:

  • Be well versed in food service – including providing excellent customer service in a very fast paced, high volume restaurant environment. Prior Sodexo Campus Resident dining upper management experience desired .

  • Have fundamental Culinary knowledge, food quality and presentation - and ability to utilize proprietary systems for ordering/inventory, costing, financials.

  • Have strong employee engagement – developing, mentoring, training as well as scheduling hourly and student employees.

  • Experience with Conference operations.

  • Enjoy becoming involved in the campus community, have strengths in relationships with clients, customers, and employees. This manager will be actively involved with the Student Board of Directors.

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.

Key Duties

  • Establishes a safe work environment

  • Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships, to ensure account retention

  • Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

  • Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

  • Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

  • Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and regulatory agencies

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
