Sodexo is seeking a Reliability and Sustainability Engineer located in Schaumburg, IL.
Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, this job will be responsible for managing the programs and processes supporting a team of 50 at HQ, and supporting the account leadership up to an including the VPO. There are no direct reports for this role. This position supports the Operations Manager, Maintenance Manager and Client Infrastructure Manager to define, monitor and report on KPIs for critical asset performance, and is a central participant in the development of continuous improvement initiatives, emergency and contingency plans and improved training of maintenance personnel to upgrade operating conditions, systems design, work planning and practices, spare parts availability, warranty management and other attributes of lean and robust reliability maintenance.
The Reliability and Sustainability Manager drives asset reliability the strategic maintenance program to assure operational reliability, energy conservation, optimal maintenance practices, extended asset life, low operating expense, and peak labor utilization. The RE employs lean quality techniques and advanced diagnostic technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, airborne ultrasonic, etc.) to improve the performance of the sites’ array of utilities, environmental systems and control technologies – be they conventional or cutting-edge.
Areas of focus will include:
The Reliability and Sustainability Manager leads the energy management and reliability maintenance program management for critical facilities and assets. This entails standards, processes, work flows, procedures, work instructions, metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPI)s, documented in Maximo.
Duties and responsibilities include but not limited to:
Validate Maximo asset data on critical facilities and assets and train managers and technicians to monitor and update asset databases as a matter of routine.
Coordinate with maintenance teams to validate maintenance plans, schedules, instructions, spare parts specifications, etc., applying industry best practices.
Ensure that completed work orders are accurately and completely documented; that warranty requirements are met; that warranty recovery is enforced, and post-warranty standards are adjusted to best-practice
Review critical asset performance to mitigate risk and improve facility performance standards, operating effectiveness and efficiency.
Participate in emergency planning, disaster recovery and business continuity process, and document response plans for critical facilities and marshal alternative resources.
Engage SODEXO staff and site operations staff to prepare and train for any contingency.
Engage industry resources to investigate best practices, emerging technologies and risk mitigation.
Develop capital renewal plans based on projected asset life for critical facilities.
Include alternative scenarios reflecting maintenance improvements, operating conditions, future customer requirements and technology advances.
Conduct scheduled audits of critical asset maintenance and documentation.
Monitor and report monthly on KPIs/.
Engage in Kaizen initiatives to raise reliability, productivity, energy savings, cost reductions and similar “best practices, using Business Process Development tactics.
Technical expertise to develop and improve work standards, priorities, methods and resources, to resolve special requirements, moves, emergency and breakdown situations.
Project management skills for planning, estimating, resource management, monitoring and problem-solving to upgrade systems.

The ideal candidate will have:
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or related curriculum.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant technical experience as Facility Manager, Energy Manager, Chief Engineer, Reliability Engineer at a large, critical facility or campus (>500,000sf). Knowledge of integrated facility management services in engineering/research environment, with significant responsibility for customer relations is preferred.
Knowledge of technical standards (ASHRAE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, LEED-EB:OM, etc.)
Administrative experience related to operations management, including budgeting, capital planning, technology development, safety, work planning, scheduling and logistics.
The primary objective of the reliability engineer is to identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations. This broad primary role may have a focus on one or more of the following areas: loss elimination, risk management and life cycle asset management (LCAM).
Participates as a subject matter expert in the development of criteria for and evaluation of equipment and technical MRO suppliers and technical maintenance service providers. Develops acceptance tests and inspection criteria. Including:
Overall equipment effectiveness
Remaining useful life
Other parameters that define operating condition, reliability and costs of assets
Guides efforts and manages indirect reports to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls and safety/security systems.
Professionally and systematically assists in defining, designs, develops, monitors and refines an asset maintenance plan that includes
Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
Root cause analysis (RCA) and root cause failure analysis (RCFA)
Failure reporting, analysis and corrective action system (FRACAS)
Provides input to a risk management planthat will anticipate reliability-related and non-reliability-related risks that could adversely impact plant operations.

Experience in developing and maintaining a Reliability Centered Maintenance Plan for a critical environment such as manufacturing. This includes developing a schedule and maintenance plan/activities for all utilities and facilities equipment to insure zero down time. Requires project management experience to manage multiple on-going projects within multiple work streams.
