Sodexo is seeking a Resident District Manager for our Universities Business segment located with a prestigious, long term client in Pittsburgh, PA.

The University of Pittsburgh is located on a high profile Urban Campus in Pittsburgh, PA with a campus population of well over 25,000 students, faculty and staff. The Resident District Manager has full account responsibility for all dining services at the University of Pittsburgh and oversight of over 700 employees including 36 managers and 25 hourly supervisors and 200 student employees.

We are looking for candidates who:

  • have extensive experience in managing large, complex, multi-unit operations with large scale volume on a college campus;

  • have strong background in innovative and creative approaches to residential and retail dining;

  • have extensive experience working in a union environment and an understanding of the contract negotiation process, as there are three different unions on campus;

  • have extensive fiscal management experience which includes developing and managing budgets within company and client targets, fiscal analysis, utilization of data to make effective business decisions and proven ability to deliver on growth strategies;

  • have experience with successful implementation of new programs and services from inception to delivery;

  • can build and foster relationships across Sodexo internally to ensure additional market growth and the promotion of comprehensive solutions offerings to clients – this includes collaborating with senior leaders and Business Development to grow Sodexo’s business in the assigned market;

  • can develop exceptional client relations and ensure the facility’s product offerings/solutions align with client needs;

  • play a key role and enthusiastically supports the succession planning and development of key personnel;

  • can ensure the organization’s brand reputation;

  • lead and motivate the management team, inspiring strategic direction; secure and deploy resources; cultivate relationships with clients and other teams within Sodexo; ensure the fulfillment of all contract commitments; sustain client satisfaction and retention; and maintain strong employee relations.

The ideal candidate will:

  • have highly developed organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple and often conflicting priorities, meet deadlines and proactively address campus needs;

  • be experienced in handling Union contract negotiations and other Union dealings;

  • have strong strategic leadership, financial acumen, and strong talent management skills;

  • have strong communication skills and the ability to work both horizontally and vertically within both organizations;

  • be experienced in project management and has the ability to meet multiple deadlines and manage the operations workload accordingly and;

  • develop client relationships and work with Sodexo Senior Vice President in all matters relating to the client contract and account operations in order to establish and maintain a solid, mutually beneficial business relationship that ensures account growth and account retention.

Position Summary

Functions as the central point of contact for one complex account with multiple locations, and possibly multiple contracts. Oversees performance of unit management including budget development, client relations, sales and profitability performance, conformance with company policies and procedures and staff training and development. Liaison between company resources and unit operating managers.
