Unit Description

Sodexo has a need for a Full Time Registered Dietitian to join our dynamic clinical team providing nutrition care and at Desert Regional Medical Center in downtown of Palm Springs, CA.

Founded in 1948, Desert Regional Medical Center is a 387-bed tertiary acute care hospital has received The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval, its highest level of certification, for their Advanced Primary Stroke Center and Advanced Congestive Heart Failure program. Desert Regional’s emergency department is the Coachella Valley’s only designated trauma center, serving more than 8,000 square miles of Southeastern California offering a comprehensive array of services.

Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager the selected candidate will:

  • Be a registered dietitian

  • Have responsibility for a variety of patient units; and provide inpatient nutrition care development, implementation and coordination of the inpatient nutritional education programs

  • Have prior experience in an acute care hospital, utilizing the nutrition care process and electronic health records charting (current system is Cerner)

  • work well with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff and collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently and be outcome focused

  • participate in Performance Improvement projects, assist with department performance improvement, participate in employee training and patient satisfaction initiatives

  • Maintain good time management skills and be a self-starter

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services

Key Duties

-Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.

-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.

-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.

-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.

-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.

-Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
