Sodexo Universities is seeking an experienced Quality Assurance Manager – Food forCentral Connecticut State University in New Britain, CT.

Central Connecticut State University (CCSU), part of the State University System, centrally located in New Britain CT is a public Liberal Arts University. The campus hosts two resident dining facilities and four retail outlets including a food court. CCSU is a $13M+ account. This role will oversee unit operating HACCP processes and monitor compliance. It will also assess and reinforce culinary systems and sanitation standards and act as a key trainer in the unit and district.

We are looking for candidates who will:

Communicate HACCP and food safety standards, policies, procedures, and training materials.

  • Provide representation, technical expertise, and guidance to regional operational management, support staff, and client(s) to help resolve food safety emergencies, complaints, or regulatory issues.

  • Oversee and monitor the internal quality assurance/food safety audit process.

  • Monitor and provide training and technical expertise for Sodexo's internal, automated, unit-level food safety auditing program.

  • Serves as liaison for auditors/operators and Risk Management personnel for technical audit questions.

  • Serves as liaison to internal Corporate and Segment staff members and external professional organizations and regulatory groups.

  • Provide training on appropriate or current food safety issues or concerns at regional or district meetings.

  • Coordinate and conduct epidemiological investigations in the event of a suspected food-borne illness incident.

  • Provide training, leadership, and direction to client, customers, operational management, regulatory groups, and crisis managers in the event of emergency situations of public health significance (e.g., suspected food-borne illness).

  • Coordinate and provide support on foreign object investigations and alleged product tampering or contamination.

  • Provide technical support to implement food and facilities security systems.

The ideal candidate has:

Knowledge of Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Points to control the outbreak of foodborne illnesses. This includes developing and monitoring procedures to keep food safe and reduce the risk of foodborne illness.

  • Knowledge of different types of bacteria, their location, how they spread and grow, their effect on food, and how to prevent contamination. This includes pathogenic bacteria, indicator bacteria, coliform, salmonella, etc.

  • Knowledge of all regulatory laws pertaining to USDA/FDA regulated products.

  • Knowledge of safety policies, procedures, and external regulations. This includes safety and loss prevention programs; hazardous materials and chemicals; accident and fire prevention programs; compliance with Company policy, Federal, State, Local codes/standards, EPA, OSHA, HACCP, and TJC; safety of employees and the public; investigation procedures; employee training; and safety incentive programs.
