Sodexo is seeking an experienced Retail Manager 3 at Lipscomb University located in Nashville, TN !

Lipscomb is a Christian based University and is connected to the Church of Christ. The University has 1500 residents and 3500 commuter and graduate students. The University recently celebrated its 125 anniversary.

Sodexo operates the dining services on campus which consist of seven retail food outlets. five of which are national brands, one regional and one Sodexo brand. In addition Sodexo operates the student dining room which can accommodate in excess of 400 guests per seating for continuous dining. Sodexo also provides upscale Catering service on campus with sales of over $1.2 million dollars.

This Retail Manager will be fully responsible to develop operating budget for all expenses and revenue sources and develop monthly business objectives to attain targets; will be expected to coordinate all unit special events and catering orders for quality and timely delivery; will be accountable for safety and sanitation standards in the unit; implement and coordinate campus standards for Retail Dining and Catering. This facility has a unique dining program that represents a high commitment to special diets, sustainability and local products being offered.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience managing in a very large volume college/university retail dining environment;

  • Experience as an effective leader in customer service, front of the house operations and food production processes including labor costs, food costs, etc.

  • Demonstrated ability to manage process to select, train, schedule, counsel and develop unit staff;

  • Prior experience coordinating special events and catering orders for quality and timely delivery;

  • Functional knowledge and competence regarding sustainability practices in a food service operation.

Position Summary

Responsible for food quality & customer service in an operation that may have branded concepts or other retail offerings. Directs the work of hourly and supervisory food service workers, as well as other managers.

Key Duties

  • Ensures there is a zero harm mindset for ourselves, our customers, our food & employees.

  • Directs daily operations of food quality & customer service in a retail food operation that may include branded concepts ensuring that employees have appropriate equipment, supplies and resources.

  • Manages cash handling protocols & control procedures according to Sodexo policies.

  • Maintains client satisfaction for food quality & customer service.

  • Accountable for the execution of service quality by maintaining the highest level of delivery.

  • Supervises day-to-day work activities of food service workers, supervisors & managers.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience – 1 year of work experience in concessions, retail sales, or store operations
