Unit Description

Sodexo is a seeking Full Time Registered Dietitian to come join the clinical team at Martin Luther King, Jr Community Hospital. MLKCH in a brand new private, non-profit, 131-bed hospital located in Los Angeles. The dietitian will be responsible for a variety of patients.

Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be a registered Dietitian with at least 1 year of experience in an acute care setting

  • Be responsible for conducting nutrition care, patient assessments, and education for patients with a variety of disease states

  • Have experience with Medical Nutrition Therapy guidelines, regulatory standards, and evidence-based medicine. The clinical registered dietitian actively screens, assesses and documents patient's nutritional needs based on data and pre-collected screening risk data by Nursing or RD, implements care plans and educates patients (and family members)

  • Experience with Cerner and Roomservice a plus

  • Works well as part of a team, active communicator with all disciplines, advocate for the patient

  • collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and committees and other relevant activities

  • Project an image of professionalism in communication, appearance and conduct

  • Be a self-starter and flexible in a growing and changing facility and assist to establish processes and solutions

  • Participate in the continuous quality improvement process. Maintain a working knowledge of departmental standard operating procedures

  • Contribute to the community through booths and health fairs as requested

  • Acts as a preceptor for new hires, interns and peers according to guidelines as needed

  • Have a passion for patients with different socioeconomic backgrounds

  • Assist Clinical Nutrition Manager with projects as requested and perform other duties as assigned

  • Experience with Cerner and Roomservice a plus

  • Spanish language skills a plus

  • Experience with NFPE a plus

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct basic nutrition services

Key Duties

-Provides nutrition care to population served to ensure needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.

-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.

-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.

-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexo resource when necessary.

-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.

-Follows operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments..

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - Meets eligibility requirements for certification as a Registered Dietitian
