Unit Description

Sodexo Campus Dining has an opportunity for a General Manager 4 for at Simpson College located in Indianola, IA , minutes from Des Moines. This College is located in a beautiful town with approximately 1100 students on meal plans. The General Manager will oversee Resident Dining, Retail Dining and Catering for a total managed volume of approximately $3 million. Retail brands include Au Bon Pain, Red Mango, a retail grill operation, and a Starbucks We Proudly Serve. The GM will oversee an Executive Chef, a Retail Manager, and a Catering Manager.

The ideal General Manager candidate will possess:

  • College/University Operations Manager or General Manager-level experience (volume $2.5-5M)

  • Experience interacting with executive-level clients and building those relationships as well as with other campus departments.

  • Experience managing resident and retail operations food service business.

  • Experience training and leading other salaried managers.

  • Experience with food and labor management systems.

  • Experience writing budgets and managing those budgets.

  • Experience with new account openings and/or change management.

  • Strong administration, organization and client relations skills are necessary at this management level.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.

Provides local leadership and strategic direction while developing team for new and emerging business solutions that sustain growth in the day to day operations.
