Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a Registered Dietitian to come join their dynamic clinical team at Kapi‘olani Medical Center for Women & Children in Hawaii. Hawai‘i’s leader in the care of women, infants and children, with 207 beds and 66 bassinets, it is Hawai‘i’s only maternity, newborn and pediatric specialty hospital.

Kapi‘olani is also a tertiary care, medical teaching and research facility. Specialty services for patients throughout Hawai‘i and the Pacific Region include intensive care for infants and children, 24-hour emergency pediatric care, air transport, maternal fetal medicine, and high-risk perinatal care. Reporting to the Clinical Nutrition Manager, the ideal candidate will:

  • Be a registered Dietitian with at least 2 year of prior experience in an acute care pediatric hospital setting and prior experience teaching gestational diabetes classes

  • Have prior experience utilizing the nutrition care process and electronic medical records charting (Epic experience is helpful)

  • be responsible for providing nutrition-related expertise in the interdisciplinary team management of all patients and clients

  • accurately assess patient’s nutritional status, identify nutritional risk, develop plan of care and evaluate outcomes

  • consult with physicians and other health care personnel to determine nutritional needs and diet restrictions

  • Demonstrate excellent communication and customer service skills

  • Be able to work well with physicians, nursing, and ancillary staff and collaboratively as part of a team, as well as independently and be outcome focused

  • Have good time management skills, be a self-starter

Position Summary

Responsible for providing direct comprehensive nutrition services including those for complex needs.

Key Duties

-Directs nutrition care of special needs population to ensure nutrition needs and customer satisfaction levels are met.

-Maintains and develops client relationships and client satisfaction to ensure account retention.

-Manages, promotes, and educates others on food and nutrition programs according to Sodexo standards and policy.

-Collaborates and communicates with culinary and clinical departments on established processes, special diets, and menu requests and probes potential problems and apprises manager of status on resolution of problems or issues, using appropriate Sodexho resource when necessary.

-Ensures compliance with all federal, state and local regulations as well as Sodexo/client policies and procedures (e.g. Health Dept., -HIPAA/Privacy Act, Joint Commission, quality assurance, safety, operations, and personnel) by keep abreast of the most recent nutrition-related trends, research, policy, certifications, and standards of practice.

-Establishes operating standards, implements quality improvements and communicates them to other departments. .

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian
