Sodexo is seeking a Director, Construction Design Development - Food Service Operations

Responsible for Project Development and performing in a Lead Role supporting Sales Initiatives, Projects & Sales:

  • Ability to develop and manage budget, scope and timeline to determine feasibility and if required, negotiate and re-establish program where needed to ensure positive outcomes.

  • Ability to interpret/assess Client and Operational needs and effectively communicate with the Design Team.

  • Provide accurate assessment of facilities (to the extent that the facility will allow) and clearly document information.

  • Ability to read and assess design documents and influence changes that will positively impact the food service program.

  • Manage Design Teams to ensure proper documentation (scope, contracts, budget, timeline, design documents, and meeting minutes) are maintained throughout life of project.

  • Ability to communicate effectively at all levels (Client and Operations) progress of project, reporting all outcomes (positive and negative) and established next steps to ensure project continues to move forward.

Position Summary

Responsible for Project Development and performing in a Lead Role supporting Sales Initiatives.


Responsible for determining the resources and expertise needed as part of the project team for a given opportunity. This may require pre-project site visits to determine scope of work, budget, and on-site assessment of current conditions with Sodexo Operations and Client. Responsible for the coordination/overview and review of design development documents (design proposals, drawings, specifications and budgets) of new and/or renovations of existing food service facilities on client premises. Required to work in tandem, as part of a team, with Program Developers and Project Managers for project documentation coordination. Responsible for managing client and operator expectations and keeping all project stakeholders informed and up to date on project status.


Responsible for delivering high level client and operator satisfaction and retention through strong performance outcomes. Support RFP, new Sales and Contract Extension opportunities that include capital for Food Service renovations/new builds, by providing on site program evaluation. Develop preliminary information (scope of work, design intent and budgets) for the opportunity. Oversee development of final presentation materials (through our Design Partners) to ensure program consistency. Deliverables may include: final scope of work summary, budget estimates, drawings, project schedule, and artist renderings for written sales proposals.

Participate in Sales presentations.

Identify and manage the scope, design, and execution of Food Service Renovation projects - 30%

Prepare the preliminary budgets (based upon Scope) and stay on target through project - 30%

Select and manage the design partners for projects - 20%

Able to demonstrate knowledge and execution of National and Sodexo Signature Brands to design appropriate solutions for client sites -20%

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree

Basic Management Experience - 5 years

Basic Functional Experience - 5 years in Auto Cad related to Food Service Design
