H uman Resource Business Partner – Government Segment – East Coast, Mid-Atlantic Location

Sodexo Government is seeking a qualified Human Resource Business Partner (HRBP) for our North American portfolio. We are a federal contractor within Sodexo and have a business portfolio of approximately $430 million in revenue and our star status client portfolio includes the U.S. Marine Corps, Air Force, Intelligence business and Federal & State Government locations throughout the United States and Guam. We have a management population of over 450 of which the HRBP will be responsible for approximately 400 on-site team members for workforce planning , talent development, labor relations, and a strong business acumen to bring creative solutions to operational challenges that may go beyond traditional scope of human resources.

Majority of our current business and future growth is on the East Coast, ideal candidate will be in the Mid-Atlantic (Northern VA – Eastern PA; the position currently resides on the West Coast) Travel could be up to 30% - local, overnight, drive/air. Positon will have direct supervision of 7 in-unit HR managers (dotted line to the DMs/GMs)

This position is a great opportunity for someone who has demonstrated success in a current business partner role to step over to a role that provides them the visibility to the greater organization at the region and global levels . Reporting to the VP, Human Resources , there will be opportunities to be involved and /or a part of projects/initiatives at the NORAM level deputized by the VPHR. To that end, the successful candidate will possess the ability to communicate (both written & verbal), speak to strategy, along with presenting and collaborating at higher levels and across the organization. The ideal candidate will have the ability to provide solutions leveraging resources, innovation and engaging themselves when/where necessary.

The HRBP is responsible for aligning business objectives with employees and management in designated business units. The successful HRBP acts as an employee champion and change agent. The role assesses and anticipates HR-related needs and mitigates risk. Communicating needs proactively with our HR department and business management, the HRBP seeks to develop integrated solutions . The position formulates partnerships across the HR function to deliver value-added service to management and employees that reflects the business objectives of the organization.

  • Maintains an effective level of business literacy about the business segment, financial position, its culture and its competition, etc.

  • Analyzes trends and metrics to develop solutions, where data may be useful

  • Government experience, knowledge of the Service Contract Act (SCA ) is a plus

  • Maintains in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance. Partners with the legal department as needed/required.

  • Provides day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).

  • Works closely with management and employees to improve work relationships , build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

  • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

  • Provides g uidance and input on business unit restructures, workforce planning and succession planning.

Position Summary

As a strategic partner, advises management on the formulation and administration of human resources (HR) programs for a significant segment of business. Coaches and counsels management on a broad range of HR topics focused on driving employee performance, strategy and workforce planning to strengthen overall business performance. Ensures alignment of HR policies in new business development and acquisition activities and facilitates effective onboarding and new unit opening processes. Leverages HR and workforce analytics to designs and implement human resources programs to align with and achieve business objectives. Fosters and ensures partnerships across HR functions to engage expertise required to both predict human resource needs and diagnose emerging trends. Maintains a deep understanding of the business including financial position, mid and long range plans, key environmental factors and competitive indicators.

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor’s Degree

Basic Management Experience - 5 years

Basic Functional Experience - 5 years Human Resources experience
