Unit Description

Sodexo is currently seeking a Food Operations Manager 1 to join our team at Shenandoah Valley Westm inster Canterbury located in Winchester, VA. Join a very diverse and well-rounded team at this large, high profile and very upscale Continuous Care Retirement Community.

The Operations Manager will report directly to the General Manager and will be responsible for day to day oversight of the unit. The Operations Manager is the key to operational effectiveness at this unit. The Food Operations Manager will have demonstrated culinary and management experience. The successful candidate will be required to have excellent culinary skills, knowledge of HACCP principles, leadership and communications skills.

Additional Job Responsibilities include:

  • Food cost and inventory controls

  • Responsible for identifying process improvement initiatives and overseeing implementation.

  • Ensures that employees demonstrate an active customer hospitality orientation toward, patients, visitors and hospital staff

  • Ensures compliance to food safety, sanitation and overall workplace safety standards.

  • Meets (or exceeds) Sodexo standards of operation

  • Creates a positive environment and successfully motivates and manages team.

Position Summary

Assumes General Manager's (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence in complex multi-functional accounts. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Responsible for financial/Human Resources (HR) functions. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
