Unit Description

Sodexo at Raritan Bay Medical Center part of Hackensack Meridian Health is currently seeking a Food Service Manager 2 to oversee cafeteria, Coffee shop, doctor's lounge and catering. The food manager will lead up to 38 direct and indirect team members between retail and non-retail areas. With a Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and rotating holidays.

Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage retail programs to Sodexo / Client specifications

  • Create daily promotions, monthly calendars and execute promotions to drive sales and participation

  • Maintain POS and all Signage and Electronic Communications

  • Maintain operational excellence, high quality of product and high level of customer service

  • Interact with customers and clients on a daily basis

  • Train front line staff in customer service, cross training on job duties, safety and sanitation standards

  • Analyze sales data to make informed business decisions on employee schedules, employee tasks, recommend hours of operation and offer mix

  • Plan employee schedules and monitor

  • Conduct retail surveys and run monthly hospital retail focus groups.

  • High end catering.

  • Manage and drive profitability

  • Recruit, Hire and Train frontline employees

The best qualified candidate will have strong P&L job skills, experience in cafe renovation, prior cash handling experience, and previous health-care dining experience. Strong technical aptitude, including Microsoft Excel and Power Point proficiency is also highly preferred. The Food Service Manager also should have high energy with proven experience in providing excellence in customer service, increasing overall client satisfaction and driving daily retail transactions.

Position Summary

Responsible for managing multi-functional food service areas in a single unit. May assume General Manager's (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence. Assists in maintenance of cash control and payroll records. Assists in supporting the financial/Human Resources (HR) functions. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience - 1 year

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
