Unit Description

Sodexo is on the hunt for a Full-Time Temporary Registered Dietitian, preferably a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE) who can work in a fast-paced hospital environment. On the daily, you’ll provide assessment, case management, education and ongoing management/monitoring to patients and families that promotes diabetes self-management in an ambulatory setting. This is a Full-Time Temporary position for Metropolitan Hospital. This position will last up to 1 year and is eligible to receive benefits.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Considers age specific and cognitive status in approach to and execution of assessment and ongoing care of the patient and/or caregivers

  • Uses age appropriate education materials, equipment and supplies

  • Communicates appropriately with patient and/or caregivers/ family

  • Teaches patient/family skills for diabetes self-management

  • Develops and provides education materials for TCH staff and community

  • Implements proper protocols for diabetes patients

  • Supports clinic activities to enhance patient’s knowledge

  • Demonstrates positive interpersonal skills, communication, & customer service skills

  • Maintains professional development of self and the development of peers

  • Participates in research to enhance practice

  • Provides nutrition assessment and follow up care per the Nutrition Care Process Model

Position Summary

Provides comprehensive nutrition assessments and care planning for most complex or specialized patients/residents. Plans special diets and supervises their preparation. Instructs patients and/or hospital personnel in complex principles of nutrition and modifications of normal diet. Fulfills a leadership role and assumes the role of a Clinical Nutrition Manager in his/her absence. Acts as a regional resource in his/her area of expertise.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Bachelor's Degree

Basic Functional Experience - 3 years work experience in health care including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted or independent living facilities, long-term care, retirement homes, or clinics + registered dietitian.
