Unit Description

Sodexo is seeking a Food General Manager 5 to join our food and nutrition team at Mountainside Hospital a 300 bed acute care hospital located in Montclair, NJ. In this highly visible managerial role, you will be responsible for all of the food contract operations for their full-service Cafe, Catering and Patient Meal services utilizing the "At Your Request" room service model. Responsibilities will include: working with all unit financials/budgets, cash control, strategic planning, training and development of both an hourly and management team, establishing and maintaining a positive Client relationship, HR functions and direct supervision of 75 union hourly associates and a Sodexo management team of 6.

The successful candidate will have at least 4 years food management experience on a senior level, a strong financial acumen, the ability to manage multiple priorities, demonstrate professional communication skills, and a passion for a high level of customer service. Prior health-care and New Account Start-Up experience would be a plus in this role.

Please note, the State of NJ requires all candidates for this lead role in hospitals have one of the following credentials in order to be considered: a 4 year Degree in either Food & Hospitality or Nutrition Services or be a Certified Dietary Manager with the appropriate years of relevant experience.

Position Summary

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.
