Job Description

Position Title: Student Food Service Worker I

Generic Description:

  • Prepares and cooks to order food requiring short preparation time.

  • Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.

  • Typically performs fast food cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers.

  • Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.

  • Follows basic recipes and or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.

  • Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting, and shredding fruits and vegetable, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry, or fish for culinary use.

  • Taste products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan productions requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.

  • May select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.

  • Follows all applicable food regulatory rules and procedures.

  • May clean and sanitize workstations and equipment.

Reports To:

Primary Supervisors: FOH Supervisor and BOH Supervisor

Secondary Supervisors: Executive Chef, Resident Dining Manager and General Manager

On occasion you may be required to work alone and will need to execute designated task as indicated on daily production sheet.

General Shift Hours: Can range Monday – Sunday from 8am - 9pm (hours are subject to change based upon business demands. May be required to come in earlier or stay later than scheduled from time to time to assist with high volume demands and special events)

Secondary Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a clean work area (Counters, Drawers, Shelves, and Floor at designated work area)

  • Maintains equipment (Clean slicers, turbo chef oven, Panini press, warmers, hand sinks, and any other equipment as needed or directed by immediate supervisor)

  • Works according to Sodexo Safety Guidelines and follows all safety procedures. (Uses all PPE including hot mitts, cutting gloves, and safety shoes.)

  • Follows Sodexo HAACP guidelines (Monitors food temperatures, and uses disposable gloves when handling ready to eat foods)

  • Help clean tables and chairs, fill salt and pepper shakers and fill napkins. (PM shift will also be required to help assist with putting chairs on the tables)

  • Works as a member of the team to serve our guest, and prepare quality food. From time to time you may have to assist in other areas of the kitchen, serving area, dining room and dish room sweeping and mopping floors, wiping down tables, washing dishes etcetera.

  • Perform any reasonable request made by your immediate supervisor or manager
