Campus Dining at the University of Idaho is currently looking to hire Part Time catering positions for Fall Semester Employment. Must be available for work starting August 6, 2012.



REPORTS TO: Lead Caterer, Supervisor, Manager



FUNCTION SUMMARY: Responsible for set-up, serving, and clean-up of assigned catered events. Must have excellent customer service skills, be able to change tasks frequently and work at a fast-pace.



ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Works with team to set-up room, table, chairs, place settings, etc. as directed

• Serves food in a professional, formal manner

• Assists with clean-up at conclusion of event and as directed

• Provides courteous, friendly, and helpful customer service

• Wears proper uniform daily according to the employee handbook

• Follows all Sodexo policies regarding attendance, safety and sanitation



QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience: Previous catering experience preferred but not required

• Communication Skills: Good oral communication skills

• Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for extended periods of time, able to lift up to 30 lbs, twist, bend and reach

• Image/Dress Requirements: Excellent personal hygiene and appropriate dress

• Other Skills: Dependable, responsible, motivated, and able to follow directions. **This position requires skill in a very fast pace environment. Grill Cook position has direct contact with guests. This position pays $9.00 - $12.00 per/hr based on experience. Must have full knowledge of breakfast culinary experience as well as lunch.

Position Title: Cook 1

Position Summary: 



Prepares and cooks to order foods requiring short preparation time.

•

Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron, and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.

•

Typically, performs fast food cooking duties in preparing food items to be served to customers.

•

Provides the highest quality of service to customers at all times.

•

Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts and other foodstuffs for consumption in eating establishments.

•

Prepares foods by operating a variety of kitchen equipment to measure and mix ingredients, washing, peeling, cutting and shredding fruits and vegetables, and trimming and cutting meat, poultry or fish for culinary use.

•

Tastes products, reads menus, estimates food requirements, checks production, and keeps records in order to accurately plan production requirements and requisition supplies and equipment.

•

May select recipes per menu cycle, prepare bakery items, receive inventory, move and lift foodstuffs and supplies and prepare meals for customers requiring special diets.

•

May clean and sanitize work stations and equipment and must follow all Sodexo, client and regulatory rules and procedures.

Typical Knowledge and Skills: Identify the qualifications to competently perform the job. 



Applies basic skills and may develop skills appropriate for the position. Focuses primarily on own area of specialty. Good working knowledge of food preparation. Requires familiarity of kitchen equipment. Typically requires limited cooking experience.

• Function Specific Experience: 0 - 2 years of related work experience.

Supervision Provided: None.

Working Conditions: Fast Pace enviroment. Must have ability to stand on feet for long periods of time. Canidate must have ability cooking multiple orders at any given time. Time management is a must.



Work is performed in an area that is adequately lighted and ventilated. Works in a kitchen environment.



Physical Demands: Specific physical characteristics and abilities are required to perform the work, such as agility, dexterity and long periods of walking, standing, bending, carrying or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 50 pounds or more.
