Sodexo currently has a job for a Food Operations Manager 2 to join our Sr. Living Team atin Golden Valley, Minnesota. This position reports to the General Manager and works to oversee the dining operations of Colonial Acres healthcare building including dining operations for our Long Term Care, Skilled Nursing, and Memory Care dining services. This position will work to ensure smooth dining service, proper food safety and sanitation, employee training and scheduling, and catering for this outstanding account.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversight of the food service operations for 4 dining rooms serving around 80 residents, as well as catering services.

  • Manages 20 employees including the hiring, training, coaching, performance management and scheduling of these employees.

  • Provides hand on food preparation and cooking as needed to ensure smooth service.

  • Works to ensure excellent quality customer service and customer experience.

  • Maintains Sodexo Point of Sales system, including programing and reporting.

  • Oversees food service safety and sanitation policies.

  • Accountable ensuring outstanding resident satisfaction.

  • Oversees purchasing for the healthcare building.

  • Maintains standards for superior client and resident relations

  • Creates a positive environment; and

  • Ensures Sodexo Standards are met.

Ideal Candidates Skill Set:

  • Previous leadership experience in a customer service and quality driven environment.

  • HR skills to schedule, hire, train and coach the hostesses / wait staff.

  • Strong understanding of forecasting, food cost management, purchasing, inventory and labor management concepts.

  • Passion for customer service, preferably in a senior living environment.

  • Culinary production experience, the ability to be hands on in the kitchen and a strong background in safety and sanitation compliance;

  • Excellent computer skills; Microsoft, Scheduling, POS system experience.

  • Servsafe Certified, experience with HACCP monitors.

  • Knowledge of state and Federal industry regulations.

  • Ability to be hands on, and out in front with the residents to build relationships and ensure Sodexo success.

  • Ability to be flexible in terms of scheduling to support business needs, including

  • Preferred candidates for this General Manager position should be Certified Dietary Managers or have a Bachelor’s Degree in Dietetics, Nutrition or a similar B.S. degree.

Position Summary

Provides leadership and supervision for the on-site food service exempt and non-exempt level staff in the delivery of our contractual agreement with the client. Provides supervision for food services at account/unit to ensure client satisfaction and retention for the company. Implements business practices in order to uphold company mission, values and commitments made in the Sodexo client contractual agreement.

Key Duties

  • Establishes a safe work environment

  • Utilizes Sodexo tools and programs to develop client, customer, and staff relationships, to ensure account retention

  • Implements and fully utilizes all Sodexo tools and programs to ensure financial outcomes

  • Directs daily operations of food service to ensure employees have appropriate equipment, inventory and resources, ensures operating standards and regulatory requirements are met

  • Develops and implements plans, projects, with defined objectives, methods, timetables and budget to support client and Sodexo strategic plan

  • Ensures adherence to all HR standards for Sodexo, client, and regulatory agencies

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
