Sodexo has an exciting opportunity to be a part of Sodexo’s Military Commissary / Grocery Store business venture with the Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA). The General Manager position will be located in Ft Myer, VA .
The DeCA is a commissary providing groceries to military personnel, retirees and their families in a safe and secure shopping environment. The Defense Commissary Agency (DeCA) commissaries contribute to family readiness, enhance the quality of life for America's military and their families, and help recruit and retain the best and brightest men and women to serve their country.
The Sodexo General Manager will have responsibilities for overseeing and managing the Deli and Bakery departments while ensuring a friendly selling approach to customers by all Sodexo associates.
Essential Job Functions:
Develop and implement plans for achieving departmental objectives and business plans.
Expedites the sales plans in full support of division merchandising programs.
Plan and expedites in-store promotions and interdepartmental tie-ins to maximize sales and create a selling atmosphere.
Establishes and maintains effective inventory control methods in all departments.
Controls ordering; avoids overstocks; support administration.
Ensures freshness of product by closely adhering to rotation and dating policy.
Schedules and organizes work force consistent with store sales and union contract.
Controls departmental expenses such as wages, utilities, wrapping supplies, etc.
Supervises Sanitation Program in compliance with division standards.
Handles customer complaints quickly and efficiently in order to achieve customer satisfaction.
Maintain security (cash handling, shop lifting, and theft).

Directs all contract management service operations at a single account/unit. Plans and supervises special functions. Maintains cash control and payroll records. Hires and trains unit personnel. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations. Manages through managers and is accountable for the contract. Senior-most person assigned to a one client account.
Qualifications & Requirements
Basic Education Requirement - Associate's Degree
Basic Management Experience - 3 years
Basic Functional Experience - 4 years
