Job Overview:

The Sodexo Intern will perform and train in various responsibilities under their career concentration. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

/General Responsibilities:/

  • Assists maintenance workers, foodservice employees engaged in cleaning, maintaining, cooking or serving at facilities of commercial, health care, school, residence hall or other establishments.

  • Assists in daily operations.

  • Learns how to operate and maintain equipment on an as-needed basis.

  • Performs day-to-day assignments.

  • Maintains and observes department s guidelines.

  • May provides feedback on guidelines.

  • May be assigned special projects.

  • May assist in calculating recipes and preparing special formulas.

  • May assist with the checking of patient trays and Feeding Program boxes.

  • May update patient lists/labels on a daily basis.

  • Attends weekly menu group and assists patients in filling out menus.

  • Completes formula inventory as assigned.

  • May be part of a formal Sodexo internship program. Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.

  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP/OSHA and/or local policies and procedures.

  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Sodexo at Northwestern University, Manager in Training Program

Description: 9-12 month training designed for graduates of: Culinary, Management and Hospitality programs, both Associates and Bachelor s degrees.

Positions are determined by actual business needs. Focus is on management process and systems used by Campus Dining in day to day operations.

Divided into two parts: Front of house *approximately 3-6 Months

Back of house *approximately 6-12 Months

  • /*Depending on the start month of the program and experience, individuals may be involved with the program for 6-24 calendar months./

Objective: Recent Graduates find that they are competing with seasoned industry veterans for entry level jobs. Program gives participants the opportunity to gain skills and knowledge to enter the job market beyond formal class room training. At the end of the program it is *intended* that successful participants will interview for Campus Dining positions throughout the Chicago-land area, IL, IN. and Michigan. Candidates also have the option of posting and interviewing for positions throughout the United States.

Sodexo at Northwestern University, Manager in Training Program

MIT Program: 1. Provides systems and process training and responsibility.

  1. (2) Week on-boarding includes position training

  2. Introduces the MIT to shift management responsibilities

  3. Allows the time to learn without the pressure of full position ownership

Training includes: Human Resources, Production Process, Safety Programs, Labor Management, HACCP documentation, cash handling and communication. As we are in working units and not a class room, sequence and bundling of training adjusts to the units conditions and situations. Daily involvement gives the MIT s a real opportunity to contribute to the successes of the operations.


Program: MIT interns will be asked to evaluate the MIT program upon completion.

MIT Interns: Interns will be evaluated on a quarterly basis for progress and performance. */Overall score of Satisfactory is required to continue on in the program./*

  • Units are closed and MIT s are not scheduled:*

Thanksgiving Break: Thursday – Saturday

Winter Break: DECEMBER /approximately/ 3-4 Weeks

Summer Break: August (entire month)
