The Chef Manager position will report to the Executive Chef. He or she will lead the food production for Yale Hospital. YNHH is a 1,008-bed private, nonprofit teaching hospital that ranks among the premier medical centers in the nation. For the past three years, YNHH has been included among the Best Hospitals in the U.S. in the annual U.S.News &amp; World Report ranking. Yale-New Haven is the largest acute care provider in southern Connecticut and one of the Northeast's major referral centers. Unit located just off I-95 and I-91. Unit is conveniently located to mass transit and hospital shuttle bus service.

The manager will also oversee the preparation of meals, train production staff, and act as the closing manager. This leader will also be expected to participant in the hospitals Service Excellence Program.

The Food Service Department is:
-    Implementing a New Sodexo retail concept Fresh Inspiration which will open in September.
-    Patient meal service is utilizing At Your Request Room Service.
-    Four Retail outlets along with a high end/volume catering.

Working with the Executive Chef will provide this individual the opportunity to develop leadership and technical skills to prepare this manager for professional growth within Sodexo as well as an introduction to the Hospital business unit.

Position provides culinary leadership in all food production for dining services, retail, and catering, develops culinary team members through coaching, training and mentoring, maintains compliance standards for meal service, food quality and daily tasks, performs daily audits of safety, sanitation, food quality, meal delivery, meal assessments, and quality standards. Responsibilities include oversight for multiple Resident dining options, food retail venues, and upscale catering.  Position will plan and cost out menus keeping current with industry trends and diverse cuisines. The successful candidate has managed other managers and will oversee the food production team of 15 with shared management oversight of up to 60 employees. In this pivotal role, the Executive Chef leads focus groups to engage Residents in the customer service enhancement process. A culinary background in Hotels, Resorts, and Campus dining is a plus for this position. The typical schedule will run 10 AM – 8 PM and will include every other weekend management coverage. Position Summary:
Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in a medium to large account. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions, may train other chefs outside account. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.

Basic Management Experience - 2 years
Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.

As the Manager 2, you will oversee the Patient Transportation Department for approximately 12 - 13 client employees and will have a strong focus on customer service.

In this 302 bed unionized, full-service unit, this position will be the liason with patients between food service and housekeeping to assess levels of patient satisfaction.
