Sodexo is seeking a Grounds Manger 2 located in Lincolnshire, IL

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Facilities Management you are responsible for leading and managing the Grounds Department for the beautiful 76 acre campus.

Key responsibilities:

Plan, organize and oversee the daily activities of all campus grounds and landscaping services staff. Establish and continuously review performance standards, goals and objectives;

  • Schedule and perform routine inspections of all campus grounds and landscape to ensure quality, including plant conditions, weed control, leaf removal and litter removal;

  • Manage seasonal plantings w/ regards to flower beds & planters;

  • Work closely with athletic dept. to prepare athletic fields – both grass and synthetic.

  • Execute snow removal plan, snow removal and maintenance of snow removal equipment;

  • Maintaining vehicles and other mechanical equipment used for grounds and sports fields; ensuring all grounds equipment is maintained to a safe and serviceable condition and workshop facilities are kept clean and tidy;

  • Assisting in the supervision of grounds marking out for various sporting events and parking arrangement;

  • Present a professional personal appearance, firmly enforcing service staff uniforms, personal protective equipment, and other safety gear that reflects the University image and brand.


  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in grounds and landscape management;

  • Minimum 3 years supervisory/ management experience;

  • Experience working with and maintaining sports fields ( both grass and synthetic);

  • Knowledge with hard scrapes, machinery, fencing strongly preferred;

  • Computer literacy as well as excellent leadership, communication and customer service skills;

  • Certification in pesticide application and certification in sports turf management strongly desired.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Turf Grass Management, Horticulture or Plant Science preferred

Position Summary

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience - 1 year

Basic Functional Experience - 1 year of work experience in Landscaping or Grounds
