Sodexo is seeking a talented Executive Chef (II) to support the North East Region including the Covenant Retirement Communities . Position requires 100% travel and ideal candidate will be located in the Metro Chicago area 50 miles of a major airport. Position assists in supporting various accounts with all areas of culinary production and transitions. Position requires the ability to; immediately manage new kitchen teams, manage through ambiguity, learn the culture of the organizations while effectively engaging with retirement community residents. In this role you will; assess situations and put active plans in place to make improvements, you will also support Sodexo and Catering programs. Executive Chef is culinary trained and able to support the culinary teams and function as a Guest Chef at our Chef Stage Center Events!

Potential for work schedule; 10 days on with 4 days off. This is a great opportunity to learn Sodexo systems while being considered for permanent placement in our Senior Living Division.This is a Temporary (Regional Operations Support ROS) that may runfrom 6 months up to one year. Temporary positions are not permanent positions and once hired into this role, you will need to post to positions of interest in order to be considered for a permanent position.

Ideal Candidate Skills , Certification:

Culinary Degree/Trade School Certificate and Servsafe Certificate

Hotel / Restaurant /Contract Food Service Management experience

Ability to manage inventory for a budget of 2.5million in financial volume

HR skills to train & develop culinaryandfood production teams

Computer skills; Sodexo Food & Labor Management Systems and Menu Graphics

Experience with high volume food production and quality standards

Menu Planning for residents, employee cafeteria, coffee shop, and catering

Dynamic leadership skills for outcomes that exceed client and resident expectations

Position Summary

Designs, supervises, coordinates and participates in activities of cooks and other kitchen personnel in a medium to large account. This position is recognized as the technical expert, teacher and trainer for other chefs and cooks within the account. Selects and develops recipes and other items for clients. Develops menu, implements and trains HACCP, oversees/purchases food, establishes production levels and inventory controls, interviews and hires new chefs, manages/controls food cost issues and offer solutions, may train other chefs outside account. May cook selected items, and plan or price menus. Typically has chefs and cooks reporting to this position.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree

Basic Management Experience - 2 years

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
