Job Overview:

The Supervisor - Food may work in any type of food location on client premises. This individual provides oversight at the direction of management on site to coordinate routine work activities of workers and/or service employees engaged in food operations or services at either larger complex facilities or locations in the areas of commercial, health care, schools, universities or other establishments. This individual will provide support to management in the daily oversight of key functions and employees during the normal course of business. The general responsibilities of the position include those listed below, but Sodexo may identify other responsibilities of the position. These responsibilities may differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements.

/General Responsibilities:/

  • Understands and follows all policies and procedures.

  • Assists in ensuring a safe working environment throughout the facility for all employees.

  • Assists in monitoring employee productivity and provides suggestions for increased service or productivity.

  • Responsible for the oversight of day-to-day activities of subordinates and assigns responsibility for specific work or functional activities as directed by on-site management.

  • Responsible for orientation and training of employees.

  • Performs day-to-day assignments in addition to oversight duties.

  • Works with customers to ensure satisfaction in such areas as quality, service and problem resolution.

  • Promote in the development of the food service team.

  • Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training.

  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures.

  • Reports all accidents and injuries in a timely manner.

  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.

  • Participates in regular safety meetings, safety training and hazard assessments.

  • Attends training programs (classroom and virtual) as designated.

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

/Working Conditions (may add additional conditions specific to defined work location):/

  • Generally in an indoor setting; however, may supervise outside activities and events.

  • Varying schedule to include evenings, holidays, weekends, and extended hours as business dictates.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is primarily in a controlled, temperate environment; however, may be exposed to heat/cold during support of outside activities.

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.

Sodexo Leisure Services is hiring a Catering Supervisor responsible for the execution of all special events located at Zoo Atlanta. The ideal candidate will have excellent client and customer service skills, be able to multi-task, lead by example, and direct employees in a fast paced environment. Applicants should be detail-oriented, able to work nights, weekends, and holidays and committed to the highest level of client service.

Zoo Atlanta provides multiple venues for a multitude of on-site diverse events such as; birthday parties, weddings, corporate galas, social gatherings, family reunions, corporate meetings etc. This position will be responsible for supervision and support in planning catering events to ensure that all client standards and initiatives are consistently achieved.

  • 3-5 years of experience in a lead catering role, preferably execution

  • Experience supervising events in an Executive or non-Executive setting from start to finish

  • Experience training and leading catering staff on a high level of customer service

  • Exceptional communication skills, professional and customer service oriented

  • Knowledge of MS Office programs/Familiar with Sodexo programs is a plus

  • Strong track record in time management and attention to detail

  • Experience working with Executive Chef s and Sous Chef s to assure food quality meet client expectation

  • Substantial knowledge in sanitation, organization and adhering to safety standards

  • Strong hands-on supervision and follow-up

  • Checks BEO, to review requested client food items and services are executed on the proper day and time

  • Organizes each delivery timely, setting up all non-perishable items needed in advance

  • Distributes needed food preparation requirements to the on-site culinary team in advance

  • Delivers requested food and beverage to the delivery location, setting up all food and beverage in a professional appearance and logical manner, ensuring all condiments and service ware are available as needed

  • Ensures all services are cleaned up at the end of the event or requested pick-up time

  • Ensures availability of any specialty linen, china and rental needs in advance

  • Maintains organization of all daily and weekly services and associated needs, and communications with customers

  • Maintains a clean and organized working environment and professional appearance

  • May serve as a point of contact for the client, booking catering, answering questions and potential planning for future service needs

  • May assist with stocking food inventory

  • May carry and distribute supplies and equipment

  • May operate dishwasher or assist with washing dishes, glassware, silverware, utensils, pots and pans

  • Complies with all Sodexo HACCP policies and procedures

  • Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures

  • Participates in regular “Green Team client meetings, safety training and hazard assessments

  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Basic Supervisory Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a lead catering role, preferably execution
