Currently, Sodexo has an exciting career opportunity for an experienced Food Services Manager 3 to assist the General Manager oversee the day to day operation of $3.5M volume account for Resident Dining and Food Retail services at Menlo College and Menlo School - Combination of a small private College and a small private independent school in Atherton, CA – near San Francisco. The Menlo College program has approximately 450 boarders on a traditional meal plan in an ALL ORGANIC program. Summer has traditional menus for summer camps and conferences The Menlo School program serves lunch for around 800 students and staff, lunch only M-F for this independent school (day only). Several platforms, traditional menus and some organic included. Combined catering volume of $500,000, exhibition cooking and two small snack bars are also part of this operation. Position will focus on FOH service, training of employees, staffing, food safety and sanitation of facility, interactions with client, sustainability program, support Marketing efforts and support catering when needed. Position will act as lead manager when GM is not present

The Food Operations Manager will report to the General Manager and will oversee up to 45 employees. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have previous Food operations management in a larger university setting or large volume sectors of Healthcare, Sports and Leisure, or large corporate settings;

  • Be proficient in use of online Food Management Systems for menu/recipe planning, ordering and inventory;

  • Demonstrate proven financial acumen/success: Food costs/ labor costs, budgets.

  • Be a people person with a strong focus with maintaining positive client relations; a solid manager/leader who is perceptive and has attention to details that make a difference – quality and presentation of food – customer service –

  • Be a multi-tasker, organized, innovative and an effective leader who can motivate their staff. – strong employee engagement through developing, mentoring, training and motivating encouraging staff to a high level of execution and pride/passion for what they do.

  • Be customer focused– including providing excellent customer service in a welcoming dining environment.

  • Seeking Bilingual candidates - the ability to speak Spanish will be helpful in managing this work force.

Position Summary

Responsible for managing multi-functional food service areas in a single account/unit. May assume General Manager's (GM) responsibilities and authority in his/her absence. Assists in maintenance of cash control and payroll records. Assists in supporting the financial/Human Resources (HR) functions. Maintains customer satisfaction and good public relations.

Qualifications & Requirements

Basic Education Requirement - High School Diploma or GED

Basic Management Experience - 1 year

Basic Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
